Post-BACBS Update
Congratulations Davis SCB!!!!!! The Bay Area Conservation Biology Symposium, held on February 2, was a huge success and we should all take great pride in what we have accomplished.

Now that the BACBS is over, the Davis SCB will return focus to local conservation issues. We will be bringing in speakers to talk about various aspects of vernal pools at our meetings. These talks will be supplemented by a possible field trip and/or writing of a position paper. To help get things moving we may organize a workshop/seminar about writing position papers. Stay tuned!

UC Davis Conservation Research Highlights

Dr. Jim Thorne

Congratulations are due to Dr. Jim Thorne and to all of the volunteers and organizations who have helped out in growing and planting hundreds upon hundreds of native Valley Oaks in our local area. Human Corps, a UC Davis organization, chose Jim as this year's recipient of the Outstanding Staff award. Chancellor Vanderhoef, the office of California State Assemblymember Lois Wolk, the Human Corps Student Manager, and the President of the Davis Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology all presented Jim with this award at a ceremony held on May 9, 2007.
